Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to create a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a tight final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
